The Swedish-Finnish Cultural Foundation aims to further cultural relations between Sweden and Finland by providing support for increased knowledge of, and contact between, the culture, economy and people of the two countries. To this end the Foundation dispenses project subsidies and travel grants. Beyond this, the Foundation also initiates its own projects.
Hanaholmen is a cultural centre for Sweden and Finland as well as a conference hotel and a meeting centre in Espoo, just outside Helsinki.

The Swedish-Finnish Cultural Foundation came into existence in 1960 after a decision by the Swedish government. At that time part of the interest on Finland’s national debt was set aside for a foundation for cultural co-operation between the two countries. Half of the Foundation’s original capital was placed in each country.
The Foundation has a secretariat in Finland at Hanaholmen – Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre in Espoo, and one in Sweden, in Stockholm. The secretariat in Finland deals with applications for grants from applicants living and/or working in Finland. The secretariat in Sweden deals with applications for grants from applicants living and/or working in Sweden.
The Foundation also administrates several of its own projects within the areas of languages, culture, society and higher academic research. Please contact us for further information.
